Football! How American, and thrilling, especially this past weekend’s Denver Broncos-Kansas City Chief’s Game held in Denver.
I am not a big football fan, but my daughter Anya, son-in-love Ryan, and grandsons Thomas and Hayes are sports fanatics. They still live in Kansas City, where we moved from years ago, and try to never miss a home game of the Chiefs and Royals. They rarely get to attend away games.
Thanks to winning the Big Sky Youth Empowerment (BYEP) auction item this year for 4 tickets to a Broncos game and 2 nights in a fabulous Denver hotel, I was able to gift Anya and family a weekend in Denver. Pete MacFadyen and his BYEP staff really worked to make it happen as the auction item was originally for a different Broncos game. Anya and family were not very interested in attending a Broncos/Panthers game. But the Chiefs! High excitement. Took dedication and effort to make this dream weekend a reality. Did I mention the awesome seats? 11 rows behind the Chiefs at the 40 yard line. Our youngest grandson Hayes managed to catch the eye of Chief’s linebacker Justin Houston and gave him a big smile and thumbs up. Justin smiled and thumbs- upped right back. Amazing, the power of being a positive sports hero! The Chiefs did an impossible win in overtime and history was made, along with family memories. A big shout out for all those at Big Sky Youth Empowerment who made this happen.
