Sun West Ranch is located just over half an hour (31 miles) from the quiet, cowboy town of Ennis, Montana. Ennis is a community of just over 1,200 residents. While being completely submersed into the Montana lifestyle, you are still only 44 miles from the West Yellowstone entrance, approximately an hour’s drive to Bozeman and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, 20 minutes to the Big Sky Airport in Ennis servicing private planes and jets and just under an hour and a half to Big Sky.
Ennis
The growing town of Ennis has a plethora of amenities, activities, and events happening year-round. On Main Street, you will find the Madison Valley Public Library, numerous bars and
restaurants, and boutique and fly shops. Currently open to the public with masks required inside. Although a small town, Ennis has a robust list of amenities including, but not limited to; shopping, sports stores, fishing and hunting outfitters, antique shops, and art galleries. In addition, you will find restaurants, a market, golf course, a new hospital, a school, and a small, full-service fixed-base operations (FBO) airport.
Rarely found around Montana today, you will find two authentic old western saloons. Like many towns throughout Montana, you will
always find yourself in close proximity to a bar, brewery, or distillery. While you are visiting Ennis, make sure to check out Burnt Tree Brewing, Willie’s Distillery, or Gravel Bar.

While Ennis has enough to keep you busy year-round, you will find nearby attractions no matter which direction you choose. As mentioned before, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park is a short drive away, boasting spectacular scenery, wildlife, Old Faithful, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, and much more. From Sun West Ranch, to the north you will find Norris Hot Springs less than an hour away. Heading further north you will run into the largest known limestone caverns in the Northwest, Lewis and Clark Caverns, located just under an hour away. Looking for more historic Montana sites? Head northeast and make sure you stop through Virginia City and Alder Gulch, where you are still able to pan for gold, sapphires, and garnets.
