1. Every local needs a $35 Lifetime Membership to the Community Co-Op with its 2 handy locations on Main Street and its shelves brimming with organic goodness. Dress up this gift with a re-useable shopping bag so your friend will be part of the real scene.
2. “Day Hikes Around Bozeman” is an excellent book found at Country Bookshelf that will make a person want to explore this great area of the world on foot. Make the gift even more special by throwing in a few Kind bars and a reusable water bottle.
3. Local conservationist Whitney Tilt has written 2 glorious and informative books on wildflowers. Start your friend off with “Flora of Montana’s Gallatin Region.” Proceeds benefit Gallatin Valley Land Trust, and there is even an app so you can identify flowers as you hike.
4. For those with a sweet tooth, La Chatelaine Chocolat Co. on Rouse between Babcock and Olive offers their chocolates in signature boxes or you can pick a custom selection. They hand out free nibbles so it’s worth a detour.
5. Another renowned local candy maker, Bequet Confections, packages their caramels in perfect stocking-stuffer sizes. The salted caramels are particularly decadent!
6. A good ice scrapper and pair of gloves are a must for everyone! Not thrilling, but sure is handy when it is cold and icy outside. Locally owned Owenhouse Ace Hardware has excellent ice scrappers. They also have a terrific kitchenware section filled with gadgets and useful items.
7. Buy them a Costco Membership. If there is one thing all Bozeman folks agree on, Costco is a god’s send whether it is the Parmesan cheese, hand warmers, or fresh flowers.
8. A MSU Bobcats logo hat, scarf or water bottle is certainly a Bozeman tradition. Go to the campus bookstore or to any number of Bozeman shops and let your friend display their support of MSU.
9. If your friend is artistic, present them with a set of watercolors and a sketch pad along with encouragement that they begin work on an poster for the next Sweet Pea Festival. Buying them cards of previous posters will help them imagine their own possibilities.
10. If you can’t decide on a gift for them, then go to Dee-O-Gee and scoop up a bag of special, delicious, home baked dog biscuits and throw in a cute squeaky toy. Is there anyone in Bozeman without a dog?
